The Droids

Posted in Sci-Fi on October 27, 2010 by botwt

Been a long time coming but finally finished the droid duo…and even after getting Fable III yesterday!

The original paint jobs were just bloody awful (even had Threepio’s silver leg on his left….pffft, c’mon China…LOL). I went with a kinda grimy look for Artoo and a semi NMM for Threepio (painted him varying shades of GW Vomit Brown, washed with GW Devlan Mud and highlighted his raised bits with GW Shining Gold).

Project: Grievous ~ Part IV

Posted in Sci-Fi on October 23, 2010 by botwt

Getting that anxious feeling about coming close to finishing this model I pushed through the discomfort in my thumb and removed him from his base, then glued him onto his new scenic resin base. Next I attached his gun hand…it looked ridiculous pointing off to the side so I cut the arm at the ‘elbow’ and positioned the hand facing forward. Then it was a matter of adding the lightsaber wielding hands into suitable poses…and now I think he is finally ready to be primed and painted.

Project: Grievous ~ Part III

I’m still having issues with the thumb so getting too fiddly with this model is difficult but here is where this conversion stands presently. I added the two extra arms and removed the hand from his upper left arm.  Now that I am using all four hands from the General Grievous Jedi Hunter model I am stuck with going with three lightsabers and a blaster. The original hands were of no use (too tiny) and the lightsaber hilt in the one hand from the Jedi Hunter model was lousy as well, so I was left with three good saber hands and one that will have to be holding the blaster.

Onward and ever upward…

Zuckuss (1980’s Paint Scheme)

Posted in Sci-Fi on October 20, 2010 by botwt

Having an extra Zuckuss lying about I decided to give him the look of the 1980’s Kenner action figure that was mislabeled as 4-LOM. Didn’t go overboard on the detail,  sometimes less is more as it seems to be in this case. I personally like the simple paint scheme on this one, just some subtle shading and dry brushing, minor blending…fairly easy and knocked this one out in about three hours. Photos don’t really do it justice…looks shiny and I always seem to lose the depth of the painting, but you still get the point.

Project: Grievous ~ Part II

I need to buy a thimble…stabbed right down to the bone!!

At least I have all the parts of the model now for completion of this project. I am going to go with four arms as the wise have decreed and will do my best to achieve the four lightsaber look, but if I cannot he’ll go back to having a blaster in one of his hands. Now it is a matter of waiting for my finger to heal enough to finish to conversion work…oh well, there is always something to paint in the meanwhile.

Old Ben & Obi-Wan Kenobi

Posted in Sci-Fi on October 16, 2010 by botwt

Here are my two finished Kenobi miniatures…Old Ben on a Tatooine desert base and Obi-Wan on a Mustafar base in the same vein as my Anakin/Darth Vader miniature (but Obi-Wan has the high ground…hehe).

Old Ben was made from a WotC Spirit Obi-Wan Kenobi miniature and of course younger Obi-Wan is one of the 30mm Knight Models.

The whites look horrible in the photos, but even messing around with my lamp I couldn’t get a decent photo of these two, but you get the gist.
