Well, I finally got my Darth Maul finished off…at least I think. Kinda doped up on some hydrocodone presently so I may be revisiting this figure once I see him with sober eyes. Hehe
Been too long since I’ve had a real chance to update my blog because my hands and head have been kinda screwy, but I’m back. I am only working on this model in small chunks as I want to be able to do a good job on his tiny, tiny head. It’s funny how these models are looking so small now after working on larger models, but I know I’ll muddle through somehow.
Got him primed, painted his base, and got the base colors on his clothing and other bits done today, tomorrow I’ll try working on his face and highlighting his clothes.
Here are the newest Knight Models 30mm miniatures, Count Dooku and Princess Leia. Now it could be just the paint jobs, but I am not sold on either of these two. Dooku looks kinda like a zombie and Leia is suffering from what looks to be a shotty paint job around the eyes that is throwing that one off. Paint jobs can really make or break the looks of a figure (GW is renowned for this as of late) and it seems to have happened here. I know that KM puts out some amazing sculpts so it must be the paint jobs that are turning me off from these two.
Been having some issues with my hands and also suffered my seventh (yes, seventh) concussion, so I’ve been working on larger models seemed to be the way to go for the last little while…no worries, I’m looking forward to painting up my Knight Models Darth Maul figure soon! In the meantime here is the Tiny Sith Apprentice in a larger format. LOL
I’ve been working on a R2-MK commission piece for my buddy Spencer over the last little while which has been keeping me from working on miniatures and posting on the blog. Not to mention I’ve suffered a concussion last Saturday which is really bogging down my hobby hours as I’ve been getting some sweet headaches and dizzy spells, so all my energy has been going into working on the droid. It has been a fun project (and a challenging one for me as it is forcing me to really stay focused on one piece). I still have alot of cleaning up to do around the edges, but the basic paint scheme is completed. Once I have the edges nice and straight I will put a protective coat over it and then finish the detail on his dome. I’m hoping to have him completed by mid next week. Then it is back to some 30mm miniatures. My Knight Models Darth Maul is something I really want to tackle next as he is still sitting in his blister pack staring at me. Hehe.
