Citadel Finecast Commentary

Posted in Lord of the Rings / Fantasy, Reviews / Uncategorized / Misc. on August 15, 2012 by botwt

Well, I finally purchased my first Citadel Finecast product from Games Workshop…a Vampire Counts Cairn Wraith. It took me a long while to get up the nerve to spend money on their product due to reading so many horror stories about miscasting, bubbles, warped halves not fitting together properly, etc, etc. Not to mention all the catchy little monikers the Finecast product has been dubbed, Failcast, Finecrap, etc. However, I am happy to say that my first Finecast model has been defect free…do I expect my future purchases to come as nice as this one? I would hope so for the price tag that the Finecast product have been blessed with, however I still have doubts due to all the unhappy reporting on the message boards and blogosphere.

Honestly I prefer metal miniatures over plastic or resin (I like the weight and sturdiness to them), but with the detail that I have seen so far I can say this product could really grow on me. Games Workshop, please continue to hone your skills with this product and you will continue to get my business.

Now, onto painting this little fellow! 😀

Scibor Monstrous Miniatures has a new set of Dwarven Ruins Terrain that would look amazing for either a Lord of the Rings or other fantasy gaming board. And at 23.10 € it will definitely end up in my collection.

More New Knight Models Miniatures

Posted in Lord of the Rings / Fantasy, Reviews / Uncategorized / Misc., Sci-Fi on April 18, 2012 by botwt

This time Knight Models has two Lord of the Rings models in 70mm scale of Boromir and Gandalf the Grey and a cool miniature of Batman in 35mm which is different than the Joker, who was done in 70mm (here’s hoping for a 35mm Joker and a 70mm Batman coming soon). They also have two other 70mm models of Superman and Lex Luthor…pretty cool stuff coming from them!!

Well, Knight Models now has the Joker (70mm) available…as well as the 30mm Battle Droid – Speeder Bike and the dreaded Ewok (70mm). Uhhh how I hate Ewoks…nice looking model, just hate those stuffed animals. Really looking forward to getting that Joker…he looks amazing!!

Posted in Lord of the Rings / Fantasy, Reviews / Uncategorized / Misc., Sci-Fi on March 4, 2012 by botwt

My friend Miguel over on One Ring posted about the upcoming new licenses that Knight Models will be carrying soon! Looks like DC Comics, Dragon Ball and Lord of the Rings…very cool!! I know that from the photo that the Boromir and Joker are going to be mine, and I’m sure that an awesome Batman will be in the mix as well!

Non Hobby Related, But…

My Buffalo Sabres acquired today at the NHL trade deadline a player I had hoped that they would have had the chance to draft back in 2008…Cody Hodgson! I couldn’t be more happy and we truly gave away a player that shows up to play at best maybe every other game in Zack Kassian. While I like the Vancouver Canucks as well, I think that they made a huge blunder in giving away Hodgson…and thank you Canucks management for doing that!
